The 24th October saw The club host it's first ever coaches development event specifically for Billingham Juniors Coaches.
The club in the past has hosted Durham FA CPD events for coaches across the county but this event was specifically for our coaches.
In conjunction with Rich Shuffleton DFA Coach Development lead the club has committed to 4 development sessions.
The Blues coaches were given a selection of topics to choose from and after a vote, 4 topics were selected the first being " understanding and managing differences". The session was delivered by Andy Dixon, UEFA C Coach Developer, FA Mentor and Head of Sport & Teaching at Bishop Auckland College, one hour in the classroom then one hour on the grass(3G) with our u11 squad.
Andy was fantastic; engaging, challenging and very knowledgeable. The boys REALLY enjoyed the session. The feedback from the 20 coaches attending was great.
The Committee have committed to investing in the clubs coaches.
"We, the manager & coaches, spend our time developing and investing in our children that we sometimes forget that our volunteers also deserve some support which in turn will also benefit the kids, it's a WIN, WIN!
Alongside a £1000 investment into coaching qualifications to enable us to be Football England accredited the club is looking to develop it's coaches individually and as a group. We've always had fantastic volunteers and we've always tried to develop new things and be inventive... just like we ask our players to be, the coaches have always fulfilled the safeguarding side of the FA requirements; DBS, Safeguarding and 1st aid but we also want to develop their coaching knowledge and experience. This is the first step."
The £1K funding was granted by one of our coaches companies who fund match his volunteer hours, a great gesture and social commitment by them and for our part we guarantee that the money will be used wisely and for the further development of our coaches to benefit our junior members.
