Billingham Juniors launch LIONHEARTS - it’s SEND section

LIONHEARTS !

We are very excited to announce that after a lot of hard work, meetings and planning we can launch our Special Education Needs & Disability - SEND section. We’ve named the section LIONHEARTS to tie in with our Little Lions and Little Lioness’s development sessions.

The Lionheart sessions are based on fun, friends, football and just being you! Aimed at children 5-11 with disabilities who want to exercise with friends and have fun based around football. We hope if there is enough interest we might eventually form a team from the children attending but if not, well if they enjoy it, then that’s great with us!

The club appointed Nathan Steel as our Send coordinator in February and he has been instrumental in the recruitment of our LIONHEART coach Paul “ Brownie” Brown. Paul has a wealth of experience in both the adult and Junior sides of the game and will be a big asset to the section and the club.

The sessions will be held at Northfield Sportsdrome on Thames Road on Saturday mornings 10-11, outside on the Muga. We chose outside, to reduce the impact of noise indoors, after consulting with Durham FA’s Disability ambassador who also gave us information on setting up our sessions.

Ex Billingham Junior player Callum Diegan Director of Greenline Fencing Ltd has agreed to purchase all the equipment we need to get the sessions up and running. A newly formed company Greenline Fencing are based in Billingham & Stockton and have already showed their commitment to “giving back and supporting the local community” with this and other projects.
